About the Artist Jitendra R sharma

Shri Jitendra R Sharma from Udaipur is a renowned artist, celebrated for his mastery in Pichwai and miniature art, a traditional Indian art form centered on the depiction of Shreenathji. He has been trained under Shri Anandi Lal Sharma, the son of Narottam Narayan Sharma (Great Master), through the Guru-Shishya Parampara (teacher-disciple tradition), which has preserved and passed down the art of Pichwai through generations.

With over 30 years of experience, Jitendra R Sharma follows the Mewar style in his paintings. This style, which is known for its detailed precision, vibrant color schemes, and spiritual depth, has been central to the tradition of Pichwai painting, particularly in depicting the life of Shreenathji and other deities.

Jitendra R Sharma’s contributions are highly significant in keeping the centuries-old tradition of Pichwai alive, while also allowing the art form to evolve for new generations of art lovers. His efforts have ensured that the tradition remains relevant, blending both historical techniques and modern aesthetics without losing its spiritual core.

 

In recognition of his remarkable work, Jitendra R Sharma was awarded the National Merit Certificate in 2020 for his contributions to Pichwai painting, a testament to his dedication and the exceptional quality of his art.

 

For the past three years, Jitendra R Sharma has been associated with Sacred Roots, where he has trained more than 300 students, passing on his knowledge to the next generation of artists. His dedication to both practicing and teaching the art of Pichwai has been crucial in ensuring its survival and growth.
